G. Bowen Cook, Jr. (“Bo”), CFA

PRINCIPAL & DIRECTOR OF RESEARCH

Bo joined Birch Hill in 2013. As Director of Research, Bo oversees Birch Hill’s investment strategy. In addition, Bo evaluates macroeconomic trends and sources new investment ideas. Previously, he worked for several years as an Operations Specialist in Corporate Actions for Brown Brothers Harriman.

Bo has a BS in Business Administration from Northeastern University with a dual concentration in Finance and Accounting. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst and a member of the CFA Society Boston, and the CFA Institute. As a student, he had financial-related co-ops at John Hancock and Wellington Management.

Q: What are your role and responsibilities at Birch Hill?
A: I mainly research individual stocks and macroeconomic developments.

Q: What do you think Birch Hill’s best qualities are?
A: Its people. Everyone is very kind, generous, and cares a lot about each other and our clients.

Q: What about what you do brings you the most personal satisfaction?
A: I get to learn new things every day and work with great people.

Q: When you’re not working, how do you spend your time?
A: I like to spend time with friends and family, read, and cruise the Plum Island Sound on my small Boston Whaler.

Q: If you weren’t at Birch Hill, what do you think you’d be doing?
A: Maybe something similar, but I think it would be fun to start something like a brewery.

Q: What words do you live by?
A: “Keep it simple.”
