Taylor Cartaglia has been promoted to Vice President, Operations Manager. Taylor joined Birch Hill in February 2023 as an Operations Associate and was promoted to Investment Operations Manager in August 2024. Taylor previously worked at Shepherd Kaplan Krochuk, LLC as an Investment Operations Associate and at Fidelity Investments. He graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 2019 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. Taylor’s duties include supervising all aspects of operations and information technology at Birch Hill. Congrats Taylor, on a well-deserved promotion!
Matt Malicki has been promoted to Assistant Portfolio Manager. Matt joined Birch Hill in December 2022 as an Investment Associate. He previously worked for Dolan McEniry Capital Management in Chicago. Matt received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree from Marquette University in 2017. He became a Chartered Financial Analyst in 2025. He is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Finance degree at Bentley University. Matt’s duties include securities research, assisting in the management of portfolios, and fixed income trading. Congrats Matt, on this well-deserved promotion!

Gary Mikula and Rob O’Neil recently attended ‘Medicine That Matters Gala’presented by Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program (BHCHP). The mission of BHCHP is to provide access to the highest quality health care for individuals and families experiencing homelessness. Birch Hill was a sponsor of the event. Birch Hill was a Social Impact Sponsor for Friends of the Children–Boston’s 2025 Friend Raiser. Gary Mikula attended the event and was on the host committee. Friends of the Children is dedicated to breaking the cycle of generational poverty through salaried, professional mentoring. Birch Hill’s website, bhboston.com, earned high marks in a recent analysis of firms in the CNBC Financial Advisor 100 (2025) list. Strategic communications firm Gregory used a proprietary AI agent to conduct the analysis. The study favored firms with distinctive branding that avoided common wealth management clichés. We were particularly pleased that the description of our research process stood out, with Gregory noting: “The firm’s description of its Tuesday morning investment committee meetings is the most vivid, specific piece of brand content in the entire study.” The study was published on April 22, 2026. Tim Malloy, Gary Mikula, Brett Mirliani, and Rob O’Neil were named Boston Five Star Wealth Managers on February 1, 2026, by Five Star Professional for the period 4/1/25 through 10/31/25. For Gary, 2025 marks the fourteenth time he has been named a Five-Star Wealth Manager. Rob and Tim are receiving this distinction for the seventh time, and this is the fifth year Brett has been named a Five Star Wealth Manager. Congrats to Gary, Rob, Tim & Brett! Robert A. O’Neil, Jr. has been named President of Birch Hill Investment Advisors LLC. Rob co-founded Birch Hill in 2007. In addition to his new duties, Rob continues to manage client portfolios and offer comprehensive financial advice. Rob has 30+ years of experience in the financial services industry. Before Birch Hill, Rob was a Managing Director at Seaward Management and a Vice President-Investment Counselor at Eaton Vance. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst and a member of the CFA Institute.

Birch Hill was a Silver sponsor of the Breaking Boundaries Gala – Annual Winter Charity Event. The Gala benefitted New England Disabled Sports (NEDS) and was held at the RiverWalk Resort at Loon in Lincoln, New Hampshire. We are happy to announce G. Bowen Cook, Jr. is now a Principal at Birch Hill. Since joining Birch Hill in 2013, Bo has held several positions, including Research Analyst and Vice President. In 2022, Bo became Birch Hill’s Director of Research. Bo’s primary duties are researching individual stocks, writing MarketView, and providing a quarterly macroeconomic overview. Bo received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Northeastern University with dual concentrations in Finance and Accounting. Bo is a Chartered Financial Analyst.
We are pleased to share that Christopher P. Mikus is now a Principal at Birch Hill. Chris joined Birch Hill in 2012 and has held several positions, most recently Vice President. Chris’ primary duties are managing client portfolios, creating financial plans, and researching individual stocks. A graduate of Kenyon College, Chris is a Chartered Financial Analyst and a Certified Financial Planner®.

We were thrilled to be a sponsor of the Victim Rights Law Center’s (VRLC) Shining Star Celebration earlier this month. VRLC provides free legal services for victims of sexual assault in Massachusetts and Oregon. Last year VRLC assisted 782 rape, sexual assault, and stalking survivors with 1,466 separate legal matters. VRLC board member Brett Mirliani noted, “This year’s Shining Star Celebration was a success, and I am humbled to be a part of such a great organization.
